REVIEW: The one day meeting summarized the current work by the research groups of

• Prof. Dr. Ralf Zimmermann (Professor of Analytical Chemistry, University of Rostock and Director of the Research Unit Comprehensive Molecular Analytics (CMA), Helmholtz Zentrum München)

and

• Prof. Dr. Li Xiangdong (Dean of Faculty of Construction and Environment, Director of Research Institute for Sustainable Urban Development, Chair Professor of Environmental Science and Technology, Hong Kong Polytechnic University)

The latest technologies in environmental aerosol research were discussed in 3 sessions:

> Session 1: Aerosol characterization and source apportionment
> Session 2: Health directed aerosol characterization
> Session 3: ALI (Air-Liquid Interface) Approaches for Aerosol and Health Research

ALI in vitro exposure technology using VITROCELL’s Automated Exposure Stations and the analytical capabilities of mass spectrometers with soft ionization developed by VITROCELL’s Cooperation Partner Photonion played significant roles in the group’s research.
