The National Center for Scientific Research “Demokritos” – Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology recently welcomed Greece’s first VITROCELL installation. To ensure a seamless start, the VITROCELL Systems team was on-site in Athens for the installation and hands-on training.
The research team specializes in nanostructured materials with advanced functionalities, including catalytic materials, antimicrobial nanomaterials, pollutant abatement solutions, multifunctional coatings, and targeted drug delivery systems for cancer treatment.
Until now, the team primarily relied on submerged lung cell cultures for nanotoxicity studies. With the introduction of the VITROCELL ESSENTIALS system, they can now conduct Air-Liquid Interface (ALI) exposure, bringing their research closer to real-world respiratory conditions and significantly enhancing toxicological relevance.
